Welspun Living’s CDO, CFO resign, Head-IT appointed the same day

A major senior management churn happened at Welspun Living on September 5. The company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) resigned, the company said in its filing to the bourses, further announcing on the same day, the name of the new IT Head.

One of the top textile manufacturers in India, Welspun Living’s CFO Sanjay Gupta and CDO Puesh Ajmani announced their resignation, both citing “personal reasons,” according to the resignation letter attached with the company filing. 

The textile manufacturer on the same day announced Subramanyam Gupta GV as the head of Information Technology. He has been working with the company since the past seven years. 

“We are pleased to announce the elevation in position of Mr. Subramanyam Gupta G.V., as Head of the Information Technology Department (a senior management personnel) with immediate effect. He will report to Ms. Dipali Goenka, Managing Director & CEO. We confirm that he is not related to any of the directors,” the company informed.

Personal reasons cited for resignation

CDO Puesh Ajmani in his resignation letter dated June 3 said, “I hereby resign from my position as President & Global Chief Digital Officer at Welspun Living Limited, due to personal reasons. Please consider this as my formal notice of resignation. I will ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities during the notice period.”

Sanjay Gupta, the outgoing CFO also cited personal reasons for the exit. In his letter dated September 4 he says, “I am writing to formally resign from my position as Chief Financial Officer of the Company due to personal reasons. I would request to please relieve me from the close of working hours on 15th October 2025.”

The newly appointed Head IT, Subramanyam Gupta GV, has been working with Welspun Living since the last seven years. As per his Linkedin profile, he recently attained Advanced Certification in Applied Data Science Machine Learning & IoT, Applied Data Science Machine Learning & IoT from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. In the past he has worked as a CIO with the CK Birla Group and has an overall experience of over 20 years.  

It’s important to note, according to a media report, in Q1 FY 26, over 125 CFOs of listed companies exited citing the aforementioned phrase, “personal reasons.”
